What we do
Our public engagement event - Neurotheatre - is a 'live' performance of brain surgery that is happening in front of you, but it's not a real skull!
Inspired by Mr Mark Wilson, consultant neurosurgeon in London, Neurotheatre is a theatrical lecture in which we follow a patient from injury to recovery. First we are shown by emergency rescue services how to deal with a head injury and then we let neurosurgeons show us how they open a skull and remove blood collecting in the head (extradural haematoma).
We have hosted this event three times so far and thanks to the extremely positive reception we plan to host it every year.
Everyone is welcome, from kids to medical students.
